This makes a versatile accessory that can be worn pulled down around the neck to lay on the shoulders as a dressy neckline, or pulled up over the head as an elegant head covering.

22" circumference and 18" length, 350 yards laceweight or fingering weight yarn, 5½ stitches/inch, size US 6 / 4.0 mm needles suggested. ePattern version includes both written and charted pattern stitch instructions. Printed pattern includes charts only.

The original sample model shown above was made in 1998 using Haneke BAMA (baby alpaca/merino/angora) in color light gray (unfortunately this yarn is discontinued now). The model to right was made in Crystal Palace Yarns Kid Merino, color Roses. And here are lots of other yarn ideas from knitters who have made Flared Lace Smoke Ring.
