Spiral Nebula Shawl

HeartStrings knitting pattern #A71

Simple knitting, distinctive shape. Let your yarns be the design. Can be knit in any weight yarn and size. The Spiral Nebula Shawl pattern is a good choice where you want to let your fancy yarns be the design element.

Shown in a hand-painted rayon seed. This shawl is so adaptable, and can be worn in multiple ways. See below for link to another example of how the Spiral Nebula Shawl can be worn.

Pattern includes guidelines for needle size and yardage for various weights of yarn and shawl lengths. Written stitch instructions.

The fluid asymmetrical crescent-shape naturally shapes itself in gentle curves outlined in lacy yarn-overs. Easy knitting makes this a good choice for the beginning knitter. It is started at the neckline, thereby letting you knit to any length and ending either with a simple bind off, or as in the version pictured above that continues the front edgings along the bottom edge in an uninterrupted pattern using short rows and mitered decreases - no grafting needed!

Lace-edged version of Spiral Nebula Shawl knitted in hand-painted kid mohair/baby alpaca/merino and hand-painted novelty rayon.
