Multicolor Techniques in Lace Knitting

Class Description

Achieving a pleasing balance of color and design

An exploratory class in color theory, techniques and tips for lace knitting with multiple colors. e.g.

  • changing colors and hiding ends
  • design schemes based on Fibonacci numbers and the Golden Ratio
  • working lace intarsia
  • using variegated yarns (what works for lace, what doesn't and why)

  • Prerequisites: Basic lace knitting skills.
  • Students bring yarn and knitting needles if they want to participate in practice exercises.
  • Additional student materials fee: $10 per student (includes class workbook).
  • Duration: 3 - 6 hours. The longer version of class allows time to cover all topics; for shorter classes and program seminars, not all topics are covered depending on time.

  • Sixth Annual Boise Lace Knitting Retreat, Boise ID October 2 - 7, 2004 (4 hour class). During this retreat, I also taught Knitted Lace Edgings, What to Look for in a Yarn, and the "Designing and Charting Your Own Lace" module of Simply Elegant Knitted Lace.
  • Westchester Knitting Guild, Irvington NY Nov 13, 2004 (6 hour class).
