Here is the repaired corner. After I had knitted up the area, I had 2 live stitches remaining (they should have originally been knit together at the mitered corner). I caught them up in a short length of extra yarn, and fastened the ends invisibly as though they had been knitted in. Some of the threads are a little loose in the area where I struggled to knit up the stitches. Thoroughly wetting and re-blocking the corner will take care of most of that.
Here's the completed shawl. Now I can claim my FO!
