Taking knitting beyond the ordinary --
From the classic to the uniquely appealing

Hi knitting friend,

Spring has sprung here in south Louisiana, and with that I seem to have a bad case of spring fever. It's really difficult to spend much time indoors, and thus my feeble excuse as to why this newsletter is so slow to get done.

Nevertheless, I am quite proud of myself for already having the yard and flower beds spruced up. Now I need to get back to the new knitting designs I've been working on. Shhh! I can't tell you the details yet but I do plan to have more information flr for you in the next newsletter.

Hopefully this newsletter will reach you in better shape that the last one. I apologize if you had gotten a version with the bad links. I was trying new software which obviously didn't work out well. Anyway, if you need another copy of that newsletter with good links, I've placed a good copy in the Newsletter Archives at my HeartStrings FiberArts website. Please see the Handy Links to the left. Of course, if you have any problems, just let me know.

And now onto the rest of this newsletter! Happy knitting,

Jackie E-S / HeartStrings FiberArts

New online catalog feature -- Sample Cover Pages

Sample cover page of HeartStrings Waves and Flowers lace sweater pattern

Selected design titles now have viewable sample pattern cover pages in the online catalog at my HeartStrings FiberArts website.

You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader v7.0 or higher to view the sample pages. Adobe Acrobat Reader is available free for download. Instructions are included on all catalog pages alongside the sample cover pages if needed.

My plan is eventually to have sample cover pages for all patterns in the Jackie E-S Design Collections viewable online. Let me know what you think of this new feature. If wildly popular, it might help me prioritize to finish this 'to-do' sooner than later!

PABLE (Pattern Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy)

Barbara Buchanan writes ...

Jackie, I don't know how you keep coming up with these great patterns!! I can't possibly knit all your patterns, but it's difficult not to buy all of them. You've heard of SABLE status (Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy), well, I'm pretty sure I've reached PABLE status, in just the two years I've been knitting. Thanks so much for all your creativity. I'll be back for more patterns, always.

Lead or Follow Lace Scarf knitted in handspun silk yarn

The fluid design of the Lead or Follow Lace Scarf is a wonderful study in the behavior of lace knitting when yarn overs are placed in various positions relative to the compensating decrease. I am pleased to feature two knitters sharing their recently completed projects using this pattern.

Lorette Meske, the Knitting Doctor, writes ...

I finally have a finished lace project to post! I finished this scarf last week, and loved the pattern (thanks Jackie!). I have pictures posted on my blog if anybody wants to check it out. Thanks!
I have to say, that scarf is probably the thing that I'm most proud of knitting. I started it before I could figure out that lace might be "hard", and your well-written pattern made it a breeze. I have several other of your scarf patterns that I am now anxious to try!

Lead or Follow Lace Scarf knitted in handspun silk yarn
I bought the pattern to your lead or follow lace scarf because it is the most beautiful lace pattern I've ever seen. I worked it in Manos del Uruguay color #113 (Carribe) and it became a GORGEOUS scarf. Your scarf/shawl patterns are amazing and very well charted -- please develop some more!!!!
