Lace Sock Patterns
Knitting patterns for lace socks using traditional cuff-down techniques
This portion of the Jackie E-S Sock Design Collections is devoted to knitting lace socks using traditional cuff-down techniques. To keep the Sock Collections web catalog of reasonable length and load time for you, this web page includes only those designs using lace-type pattern stitches (i.e. yarn overs). I welcome you to also take a look at the Knitted Socks section for more traditional cuff-down patterns.
Retailers selling these and other HeartStrings patterns are listed in the Store Locator. For your convenience, you may also through the Shopatron service to locate a retailer with all the HeartStrings patterns you want, or for available instant PDF downloads.

A Feat of Twist Socks
Pattern #S27.
The design of these lace and cable-icious sandal socks was inspired by a twist on the saying "A Twist of Fate". Twisty lace columns alternate with lacy mesh enclosed in non-binding cable crossings. The result is lots of elasticity for a good fit across a range of sizes. More ...

Concertina Lace Socks
Pattern #S17.
I designed this lace to give the illusion of dimensionality, rather like the bellows on a concertina. This small accordian-like instrument mesmerizes everyone with its happy music and wavelike rhythm as the bellows are pushed in and pulled out. More ...

Country Girl Lace Socks
Pattern #A38.
Dainty and dignified lace-patterned socks for the country girl at heart. Socks are slightly shaped below calf for a trim fit at ankle. Notch-edged bias lace panel ribbing at cuff transitions into an arrow-head lace pattern, that narrows toward the ankle and continues into the instep. The arrow-head lace then changes into subtle ribbing along top of foot. More ...

A simple lace pattern makes into a zig zag ribbed sock with a slight scalloped edge. Choice of plain or banded heel flap where the pattern extends downward on each side of a modified square heel. Instep transitions from the lace pattern into a 5,1 rib and ends with a swirl decrease toe. More ...

Lace Maple Leaf Socks (aka Canada Socks)
Pattern #S30.
Whenever seeing the Maple Leaf emblazoned on the National Flag of Canada, my memories of the many happy times I have spent in Canada resurface. And thus, when offered the opportunity to design socks as a tribute to my northern neighbors, a maple leaf motif seemed an obvious choice as a focal element. More ...

Swag Lace Socks
Pattern #A53.
Pleated triangular eyelet bands of stockinette alternating with reverse stockinette give dramatic shape and texture to these socks. The cuffs can be pushed down on the leg to wear like sophisticated slouch socks. Or wear pulled up and show off the pretty lace cable along each side of the leg. More ...

Swirling Lace Anklets
Pattern #A34.
Swirling Lace Anklets are low-top socks in an intriguing lace pattern that curls this way and that way down the cuff and along the top of the foot. Since the cuff is very short, these anklets can be made successfully with inelastic fibers like silk and cotton without fear of sagging. More ...
